The Area hosts year round recreational
opportunities, including swimming, boating , and fishing in the summer
and within close driving range to
Glacier
National Park. There are also abundant wildlife observation
points throughout the valley, including water fowl at the Ninepipes
National Refuge south of Ronan, and bison and elk at the
National Bison Range in Moise. Winter activities include cross
country and downhill skiing at Black Tail Mountain in Lakeside and Big
Mountain in Whitefish.
There are two complete medical facilities, St.
Joseph Medical Center in Polson, and St Luke Hospital and Nursing Home
in Ronan. The area hosts two school districts and the
Salish Kootenai Tribal College.
The area maintains employment and business development organizations
for economic development and the
Lake County Courthouse is
